I Heart Faces: Blue

They are at it again over at I Heart Faces. This weeks photo has to be mainly the color blue and of course have a face in it. In a previous post I asked a group of readers to choose between three photos for this weeks challenge. They chose the following photo:

DSC_0763_auThis photo was taken during Paul Bunyan Days in my home town.  Isn’t Coastie the Rescue Boat too cute?  He talked and moved. He was a lot of fun for the little ones.  Little Fire Chief chased him down the street just to hear him talk.  I also love that the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary came out to play this year.  They usually give all the glory to the local station, but the auxiliary is very cool because they take care of the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse and they are volunteers.

Head over to I Heart Faces and check out the blue period going on over there.

Give Me Your Best Shot: Super Heroes

Photobucket

Over at Better in Bulk we were asked to share photos of our super heroes.  I have to say that my hubby is a huge super hero!  He  loves his children and takes very good care of our little family. It takes courage to be a daddy.

Transformation

I thought it was time to invest.  I decided to go with a new look here at McFadden Family Adventures.  I have been thinking about a custom design for a while now.  Last night I broke down and contacted Casey at Hot Bliggity Blog.  I love what she has done with the place! Don’t you?

With the new layout comes a new adventure. I am going to start trying to post more often about Christian Living, Child-Rearing, and sharing much more photography with you all. I hope that you are as excited as I am!

I even have a new siggy!  Thanks again Casey, I will definitely be referring people to you as often as I can.

I Heart Faces: Fix it Friday

FacesFixIt

I usually don’t participate in Fix it Friday over at I Heart Faces, but I couldn’t resist the urge to use Aurora’s Relight technology.

Here is the Before:

Natural Light Photographer As you can see this photo is very dark. I decided to lighten up a bit. I added some crispness and punch.  desaturated a bit, and then cropped.

and Voila The After:

We Picture This: Love Stories

Who can resist a good Love Story, right? Apparently I can, since I don’t have many photos at all for this challenge. However I will give myself credit for being a newbie to this whole photography and blogging thing.  I have one photo in particular that knocks my socks off right now.  Mr. Moo absolutely adores his older brother. Well, Little Fire Chief had his very first soccer game two Saturdays ago, and it wasn’t going well.  He was pouting, crying, and throwing a fit most of the game.  Mr. Moo wanted to make him feel better and thus, the photo that I am sharing today.

DSC_0988_au

Mr. Moo also learned how to blow kisses recently.  He is such a love bug!

Love is in the air over at We Picture {This}! Hurry, go spread the love!

Blue

Okay so next weeks theme at I Heart Faces is blue. I have a couple of little boys who wear blue frequently. However I can not find a photo that I am exactly pleased with.  I have two options of photos. Will you all help me decide?

Here’s the first one:

Mr. Moo Close-Up

DSC_0625_au and here is the second one:

Coastie the Life Boat

DSC_0763_auOkay Okay, and a third!

Mr. Moo Playing in Water

DSC_0599  So what do you think? Which will it be (Mr. Moo close up, Coastie the life boat, or Mr. Moo playing in the water)?

Please leave your selection in the comments section of this post.

Thanks for your help!!

Taming Temper Tantrums

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against these things there is no law. Galatians 5:22

Here in lies the problem.  4 year olds want everything their way, right here, right now. They want to know “why mommy?”  4 year olds understand that they have are independent. Our 4 year old is no different than any other 4 year old. He’s loud. He’s busy. He’s excitable. And yes, he is impatient.  He wants things his way, right here, and RIGHT NOW!  As he throws a temper tantrum, I think to myself “self, don’t you sometimes feel the same way?”

My answer: “yes, sometimes I do want things my way, not God’s way, I do not want to wait on God’s Timing, nor do I stop to consider whether or not my desires are His desires.”  And then I am reminded that sometimes my attitude isn’t the greatest all of the time either.

How then shall we tame the temper tantrum?

DSC_1008_au Perhaps we should pray and ask God to help us be patient and self-controlled.  People will know that we believe in God if we can do things His way, in His place, and in His timing.  When we fail to control our tempers we fail to glorify God. And isn’t it our job as Christian’s to glorify God in everything?

Sometimes we need to pray the following prayer with our little ones. Sometimes I need to pray it as a parent *ahem*.

“God it’s me again! I’m having a hard time controlling my temper. Please help me to be self controlled.  I can not do it on my own, but the bible tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.”

So what about Joy and Peace Mrs.McFadden?

Well. . .Joy comes when thank God for everything.  Peace comes when we are joyful and self controlled.  If we pray for help controlling our tempers the end result should be a more joyful spirit.

DSC_1217_au  Okay, so what about love, goodness, and faithfulness. . .you will have to stay tuned!

I Heart Faces: Candid

It’s Candid Week over at I Heart Faces.  I couldn’t resist that opportunity to enter this photo!

DSC_0819This is one of my favorite photos from the Labor Day Parade here in town. This cop ticketed me for taking photos without a license and looking guilty.  He is a Shriner Children's Hospital Keystone Cop.

What have you been doing lately?  Have you caught a candid photo of someone? Head over to I Heart Faces to see all the candid shots this week.

The Fair

Doesn’t everyone love County Fairs? I mean seriously, who doesn’t like Fair Food?

DSC_1095_au

These fries were heaping all the way to the top and they were devoured by none other than Mr. Moo and the Little Fire Chief (hubby helped too *ahem*).

DSC_1099_au

Little Fire Chief loved the lemonade!

DSC_1094_au I think the best part of the evening was trying to get a decent photo of all the boys on the Merry-Go-Round (at dusk no less).

DSC_1147_au and then of course there was games to play and fish to take home.

DSC_1198_aubut not before we went for a ride on the tallest slide ever!

DSC_1126_au  DSC_1129_au DSC_1139_au We went back the next day with Mr. Moo and a few friends. We got to see Pickles the Clown make balloon animals.

DSC_1272_au  Our little friend E asked her to make him a Yellow Poisonous Dart Frog.  She made him the cutest Frog on a Lilly pad.

DSC_1279_au Mr. Moo loved the pigs.

DSC_1283_au He tried some more fair food.

DSC_1267 and even sat up on an old fashioned John Deer.

DSC_1284_au All in all it was a very fun and exciting fair experience.  We can’t wait to go back next year.

Give Me Your Best Shot: Playing

08Nov21_gmbs_1-1

DSC_1017_au

This is one of my favorite shots from the week.  I love this little outfit on Mr. Moo! I have been trying to capture him walking for some time now, and this shot does that perfectly. Despite the shadow behind him, I still love this photo.

DSC_1019_au

This photo of our Little Fire Chief is one of my favorites too. I will most likely recreate it next month when we give Little Fire Chief an early birthday present. We found an authentic Turnout Gear and the cutest Fire Helmet for him to wear to his birthday party. I will post some of my ideas for it later in another post. Wouldn’t this make the coolest photo?

Little Fire Chief is so proud of himself for learning to slide down the “Fire Pole” this week!

DSC_1024_au

I can’t resist this photo of Mr. Moo either!

Did I mention that I was a winner of the LightCrafts Aurora Software?  I have been loving this program! You should definitely consider buying it if you don’t have a photo editing software of your own.

Anywho, what have you been doing this week? Head over to Better in Bulk to share your favorite photos of the week with us!

You guessed it!

DSC_1037

He’s winding up for the pitch. . .

DSC_1039

There you have it folks, the boy has learned to throw wood chips.  Ugh.

DSC_1038

Do your kids play with wood chips on the playground?  Are your little ones fascinated with throwing them?
